Mentoring Program
While the RCx teams are busy improving the campus buildings, they are also providing an educational opportunity for engineering students. The YESS (Young Engineering Support Staff) program is a mentoring opportunity which provides real-life experience beyond what can be gleaned from textbooks.
RCx engages four engineering students who apply for the internship positions and become working members of the RCx teams. One of the benefits for the students is the opportunity to perform hands on work in the field. Students are given the flexibility to study as many areas of the retrocommissioning process as they want and to learn valuable skills such as reading drawings, “Green” engineering practices and about HVAC systems.
According to a current student intern, “Ask anything and they (RCx team members) will give you a crash course.”
